4 February 2014. Avianca has grounded its fleet temporarily Fokker 50 turboprops , following an engine malfunction in Cali.
The airline based in Bogotá, says the fleet grounded as a precautionary measure after making ” all appropriate inspections and go through all the safety procedures ” with the aircraft, in a statement.

The malfunction occurred before takeoff on a flight from Cali to Tumaco on January 28. The Fokker 50 uses two Pratt & Whitney engines PW127B.
Avianca amended their schedules as a result of the grounding and replace some Fokker 50 flights operated with ATR 72-600 aircraft or Airbus A320 , it says. Available seat miles (ASM ) will be reduced by 0.3 %.
Affected routes include Bogota to Manizales , Armenia, Pasto , Popayan , Florence, Yopal , Barrancabermeja , Neiva and Ibagué and Tumaco to Cali, Pasto and Medellín.
